Imagine sitting with your teammates and co-workers. You are in a cozy room sharing a meal. They are all there for you.  You share a toast and one-by-one they begin sharing the impact you’ve had on them during the time you have worked together.

What would they say?

Now imagine the tables are turned. You pause, then begin reciting the ways they have impacted you.

What would you say?

This is a tradition for the team at Blue Door Consulting to help live by their brand promise to share the love and welcome what’s next in the lives of its team members.

No matter which seat you are in, this is a team building exercise like none other. It has the power to heighten awareness about the impact each individual has as a member of the team and the larger community. (Not to mention it’s a great self-esteem booster.)

I was recently on the receiving end of this tradition. As I sat back and listened to my team I found myself wishing I was making a recording to replay each time the voice of doubt creeps in: “Am I good enough? What if I can’t make this work? What if I fail? And, sometimes scariest of all, what if I succeed?”

Thankfully I have a small reminder of the day: A personality infographic (I lovingly refer to as an Annfographic). It was gift from team members who weren’t able to join around the table that day yet wanted to share the love. It’s a great reminder that sometimes words said (or designed) with love can be the greatest gift of all.
